A Sri Lankan Reunion

August 22nd, 2016

February 2015 was the last time Mariel and I spend time with my parents. So every reunion is much looked forward too. For the first time we would travel to a country non of us had been before...

We met at the aiport at 3am. As always, classisc, we run in eachothers arms jumping of joy! We took a taxi the size of a cerreal box back to our hostel, slept for 2hrs and started our journey (not so fresh looking...) with Sujeewa from Lanka Holiday Travel.

For anyone traveling through Sri Lanka looking for a friendly, very professional and knowledgeable guide, Sujeewa is your man. He made our trip very special! Contact: tours@lankaholidaytravel.com

Our first stop was Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. A place were rescued elephants enjoy a bath twice a day in the Maha Oya river. It is awesome to see not only tourist but a lot of local people here too.

After another 2.5hr drive we dropped our luggage at The Hide Out where we spend the night. A quick dip in the pool to refresh and off we were again reaching the top of Lion's Rock in Sigiriya. The 1.200+ steps were well worth the sweat and cramp. The 360 view was amazing.

An incredible sunset made an end to our first day, fully stoked about tomorrow!
